I have 36 years volleyball experience. Volleyball was a huge part of my life growing up. During my playing years I could not wait to go to practice and play in games. That is my goal for the players today. I have coached two club team for 10 years (silver and gold). During club season I attend all volleyball tournaments that we host at Family Life Center. I enjoy working with coaches and players of all ages. As the "ATTACK" club director I am looking forward to an exciting volleyball season.
I have been around volleyball for about 25 years. All three of my boys played competitive (all adults now) and I have worked at BVAC for 23 years. I have attended countless clinics, practices and tournaments. But, my strong suit is in the office, registering players, registering for tournaments and always looking for ways to improve the volleyball program. Watching players improve their skills and enjoy the game while learning to work as a team is my goal for the BVAC ATTACK volleyball.
I began my volleyball career over 30 years ago as a high school player, winning two state championships. I then went to Northwest Missouri State University on a volleyball scholarship and set school records in assists, serves, and digs. During my time at NWMSU, we were ranked in the top twenty Division II teams in the nation for three of my four years. Following college, I continued to play club volleyball at the AA (equivalent to junior gold) level for the next ten years. Upon graduation from college with a degree in education, I became the Varsity volleyball coach at Winnetonka High School. During my nine years as head coach, we won three conference titles and a district title. My career then led me into administration and my volleyball work ended for the next few years. However, my passion for the game remained. Three years ago, I began coaching youth in recreational leagues and the desire to move back into competitive and club ball quickly returned. This will be my second year coaching club ball, but the passion I have for the game and what I want to instill in young players is as strong and clear as when I began over 20 years ago. As a coach, my goal is to teach strong fundamentals and instill a competitive drive, while ensuring players have fun and develop a love for the game.
I have played volleyball since I could walk. I played JO’s from age 9 – 18 years of age and then played for Graceland Volleyball for the next two following years. I have continued to play volleyball indoor and outdoor on both men’s teams and various coed teams. Playing and coaching volleyball has been a big part of my life and I enjoy the team comradery it instills in young players. Watching a player grow in their skills and confidence is extremely rewarding and at the same time focusing on enjoying themselves and volleyball.
I have Played volleyball since I was 11years old (over 30 years). I played 2 years with Graceland College Men's team. After Graceland I played Men's AA volleyball in the HOA region and coached 1 year at Raytown High School. I then continued training and played Beach volleyball throughout the Midwest including 8yrs with the Midwest Volleyball Professionals tour (Highest Ranking 16th). I have been coaching girls volleyball for the last 7yrs, 5 of those with Attack Volleyball. I am very focused on the fundamentals of volleyball and spend most of our practices perfecting those skills.
I'm entering my 3rd year of coaching JO volleyball with BVAC. I also previously coached for nine years at Winnetonka High School and has coached successful developmental teams for four years with the Blue Springs and Lees Summit leagues. I played volleyball most of my life; including high school, club ball, and competitive leagues. I look forward to helping young players improve and refine their skills while sharing the enthusiasm that it takes to become a better player.
I have coached 6 years of Junior Olympic Volleyball for BVAC. I also have volleyball coaching experience in BVAC leagues. I have played volleyball for 10 years in youth leagues, high school, and adult leagues. I am also a ref for BVACs youth leagues. The 2013-2014 is going to be a great club season for ATTACK VOLLEYBALL.

I have been playing Volleyball for over 25 years indoor, sand & grass. I love coaching basketball, Football & Volleyball but being raised on Volleyball it's my favorite to coach! I look forward to every new season to see the talent of girls that come to the club. After coaching recreational and competitive sports for 11 years in Lee's Summit and Independence, for Harris Park, LSBA, BVAC, The LEE'S SUMMIT STORM & The ATTACK, I continue to enjoy developing our young athletes and learning as much from them as they do from me. This is my 4th season coaching JO volleyball with the Attack. I believe in setting high goals for my athletes and teams, then coaching them to attain those goals through hard work, fundamental training and team building. Ability is important in any sport, however good character, discipline and a positive attitude are crucial. My players must be able to put the team and their teammates goals above their own. I believe that character building is equally as important, if not more important, than building the skills of our young athletes.
"The main ingredient of stardom is the rest of the team." – John Wooden
I am a father of 4 and a Lee’s Summit resident. In the past I have been a club volleyball assistant coach. I have also dedicated 2 years towards volunteer assistant coaching for recreational volleyball. I love to help the players develop strong habits so that they can get the most out of their volleyball talents. For example, communicating on the court, court awareness, proper technique for individual skills, decision making are just some of the skills I believe are important to a player. My approach is to create a positive, fun environment that allows the players to develop within a team. Smiling and having fun are expected from all players as well as winning! I believe that if you provide young players with this type of environment and expect a positive attitude, they are able to achieve more than they think is possible. I enjoy bringing a lot of passion and energy to every volleyball practice and tournament. I will always take the time to answer questions from players and parents.

This is my 3rd year as a JO volleyball coach and 1st year as head coach. I have also coached Recreational volleyball in Lee’s Summit for 3 years as an assistant coach. With over 20 years of volleyball experience, I 1st started playing in elementary school and participated through my high school career. I have also played competitive for 3 years. Whether it’s sand volleyball or inside, it’s by far the most rewarding sport I’ve ever played. I love the game and hope to encourage young girls to appreciate the game also. I enjoy going to the courts with my daughter. She just made her high school’s freshmen team and will be playing her 3rd year for BVAC. We enjoy volleyball as a family and play every chance we get. My daughter always tells me how she wants to be the next Kerri Walsh. I hope to encourage girls to go for their dreams. With hard work and dedication anyone can achieve their goals. Go ATTACK!!
My name is Catherine and volleyball has been a lifelong passion for me! I began playing in elementary school with friends from church and then was invited to play on a club team in junior high school. I played for four years at William Chrisman High School and then went on to play more club ball during my college years at Kansas State University. I have played competitively and recreationally since graduating from college as well as refereed through MSHSAA since 1989. My coaching experience started with a club team out of Lee’s Summit in 1993. After several years there, I took on the JV coaching position at William Chrisman High School. For the next three years I coached both girls and boys. I was then asked to be an assistant girl’s basketball coach at Truman High School. I’ve also coached volleyball in the Blue Springs youth league, the Independence Youth League and had a high school boys team at Sports City. Most recently I was one of the assistant coaches at McDonald County High School in Anderson, MO. I also have a love for the Upwards program and am very active with coaching and volunteering for this program. My husband Shawn and I have two beautiful redheaded children whom both love the game of volleyball! Our entire family has come to love the BVAC sporting programs and have grown tremendously through the coaches, parents, players and directors! My hope that through coaching or sitting on the sidelines, I will have the opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of the young people I come in contact with.
This is my first year coaching Volleyball with Catherine Franssens. My first introduction to Volleyball was going up to Graceland and playing with the Boys Gold Volleyball team which really got me loving the sport. Currently just play for the enjoyment and participate in KC Corporate Challenge with Honeywell Company every year. Most of all I enjoy working with our youth as I volunteer as a Den Leader in Boy Scouts and any opportunity that involves our youth. I tend to be soft spoken, but look forward to assisting the girls in any way I can and watch them grow as a team.
I have played volleyball since I was very young. I played both volleyball and basketball in high school at sumner academy. Since high school I have played in many leagues around the city, both indoor and outdoor. I have also worked with youth as a youth director for the last 20 years. In those years I have coached many youth in volleyball and basketball in various leagues. I look forward to coaching our attack girls and helping them achieve their goals in volleyball.
I have 25 years of youth coaching experience ages 9 thru 18. I am very excited to be on the ATTACK coaching staff. My goals for the girls are to teach them to respect the game, work hard, and have fun while learning how to be the best volleyball player they can be.
